The Netflix cast who plays the role of Buggy the Clown in One Piece live action is Jeff Ward (@jjward12). He is an American actor who is mostly known for his role as Deke Shaw in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2017–2020).

Jeff’s performance as Buggy was the kind of wild, unrelenting performance that you simply couldn’t turn away from because you can tell that the actor is entirely losing himself in the part, allowing this other person to temporarily take control of his body—and enjoying it immensely.

We laughed carefully out of concern that if we laughed too loudly at the incorrect joke, Ward would simply reach through our screen and drag us into his tent of terrors. Ward’s unpredictable performance was both diabolical and delightful.

Each episode of One Piece feels like a mini-movie since the characters are continuously moving from one place to another. Every new location is a distinct, fully developed universe all on its own, full of nuanced characters whose tales don’t begin or stop in the limited time we spend with them.

While Jeff Ward was born in Washington, D.C., he was raised in Radnor, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, where he first started performing in plays. He also has a younger sister who teaches third grade. Miles Teller, another actor, and Ward both attended Tisch School of the Arts. He is a Stella Adler School for Acting graduate as well.

Ward gained fame after being cast as Charles Manson in the 2016 television film, Manson’s Lost Girls. He agreed to the part because he believed that “people inherently have a slightly dark side.” He then played Seth Marlowe in the acclaimed horror anthology series, Channel Zero: No-End House, in 2017.

The Buggy the Clown actor was given the part of Deke Shaw in a recurring role in the fifth season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., later in 2017. Originally he had been cast as Virgil, a minor character who dies in the first episode of the season.

Following the reading, the producers contacted Jeff Ward and invited him to try out for the role of Deke, leading to his eventual casting. For season 6, Ward received a promotion to series regular and continued in that role for the seventh and final season.
