Shortly after midnight, Chalino drove away from the club with his two brothers, a cousin, and several young women. They reportedly were stopped by a group of gunmen in black Chevrolet Suburbans. They presented their state police ID and told Charrino they wanted to see the commander. He agreed and got into the car, followed by others.

At 6 a.m. the next day, two farmers found Charrino’s body in an irrigation ditch on Route 15 near the Los Laureles district of Culiacan. He was blindfolded and had rope marks on his wrists. He was shot twice in the back of his head.
